Our worship service begins at 10:30 am on Sunday morning and generally lasts one hour. Feel free to dress casually or dressy. That's what we do. You'll see a variety of styles - from shorts to suits, and flip flops to heels.
All children are always welcome in our service. Should you wish to use it, we also offer a nursery/WeeJam for children up to age 3 which is located right behind the sanctuary. Our Pastor invites all the children (the nursery caregiver will even bring the youngest in) for a Children’s Message during worship. You never know what’s going to happen but often this is a highlight of the service! The first Sunday of the month when communion is served, there is no Children’s Message and Jam is not offered. WeeJam/nursery is always available.
We generally serve communion on the first Sunday of the month. The United Methodist Church offers an open table for communion. This means that EVERYONE is WELCOME to partake. As you go to the front of the church, you will be given a bit of bread. You will then use that bread to dip in the chalice of grape juice. A gluten free option is available.
There are small group and Sunday School activities available beginning at 9:15 am and 9:30 am on Sunday morning for all ages. Our ministries tab will have more information about ways to connect other than joining in worship.
We sing a joyful blend of contemporary praise songs and traditional hymns. Our talented praise team leads music on Sundays. You'll hear piano, guitar and organ accompaniment. Word to songs and other visuals are projected onto screens, but we still have hymnals and bibles in our pews.
Pastor Jim's goal for every sermon is for each person to learn something new, feel something fresh, and be motivated to do something good. He is always preaching with an eye on those questions - big and small - about God and the Christian Faith. Jim's style is casual and always mindful that every person is of sacred worth and is welcome at Sedgefield Church.
