SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Loaves and Fishes is an emergency food pantry providing groceries for neighbors in need throughout Mecklenburg County. Sedgefield Church participates by collecting non-perishable food on the first Sunday of every month and transporting it to the Loaves and Fishes pantry. Also, you can bring food any Sunday and leave it in the basket as you enter the sanctuary.

Room In The Inn partners with facilities to provide shelter and food for homeless people during the winter months. We help by pairing with a neighboring church once a month, providing meals, staying with guests over night, and cleaning up. While meeting basic needs for our homeless friends, we are also fostering a deeper understanding of the depth and complexity of the issue.

One Sunday a month, volunteers from Sedgefield Church assist with the evening meal at Rebound, which is a part of Charlotte Rescue Mission. Rebound provides free Christian residential addiction recovery services for men. The volunteer group leaves the church parking lot at 4;15 pm and returns about 6:30 pm.

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. We have been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 1988. In recent years, we have partnered with the Charlotte Church Partners (CCP), a group of about 12 churches, to build houses.

Through Operation Christmas Child we provide shoeboxes for our members to fill with items like small toys, stuffed animals, crayons, washcloths, markers and paper.  These gifts are sent to children around the world. We also provide opportunities to volunteer at the OCC warehouse here in Charlotte.

We support Sedgefield Middle School, our neighborhood school, by providing treats, lunches, and supplies for the teachers, Angel tree gifts at Christmas, attendance rewards, and tutoring for students, and providing and serving food at parent night events.
