Mary Jo Bridges

Director Children's Ministries

I have been a member of Sedgefield United Methodist Church for 33 years.  I teach the Preschool Sunday School class, direct Vacation Bible School, and organize all children’s activities.  I am also the director of our After School Mentoring Program.  I am a member of the Church Council, the Intentional Faith Committee and the Susanna Wesley Circle. I have held the position of Director of Children’s Ministries since February 2014.

I was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina.  I graduated from Pendleton High School.   I served as co-captain of the Girls’ Basketball Team, a Senior Class Officer, a member of the Beta Club, Student Council, Block “P” Athletic Club and Future Teachers of America.  I graduated from Anderson University and Lander University with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  I taught elementary school for 36 years in the South Carolina and North Carolina Public Schools.  I retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in June 2013.   I currently volunteer at Sedgefield and Pineville Elementary Schools.

I have been married to my husband Jim for 36 years.  We have

two children and two grandchildren.  I enjoy going to the beach, visiting family and friends in Anderson, shopping, reading, and spending time with my grandchildren.
